Books like The widow Nash by Jamie Harrison

Dulcy Remfrey, a New York woman with a peripatetic childhood, is uprooted when her father returns from Africa mindless and empty after selling a gold mine. His sudden death leaves her with cryptic notebooks that may reveal the missing funds. Pressured by an obsessive ex‑fiancé, Dulcy travels to Seattle and then to the northern Rockies, where she vanishes from a train carrying her father’s body and disappears into a small Montana town named Livingston. There she is reborn as Mrs. Nash, a wealthy widow free from her former obligations. Yet her past refuses to let go; the ex‑fiancé follows her new life, threatening the peace she has cultivated. Set across New York, Seattle, Africa and Montana, the novel blends historical detail with a compelling character study of a woman who seeks to escape her destiny and forge a new identity.
