Books like Fire and Ice by J. A. Jance

Seattle’s J.P. Beaumont probes a series of murders where young women are wrapped in tarps, doused with gasoline, and set on fire, with charred bodies scattered across dump sites in western Washington. Forty miles away, in Cochise County’s Arizona desert, Sheriff Joanna Brady investigates the sudden death of an elderly caretaker run over near an ATV park, a case that turns terrifyingly personal when a dog left behind becomes an unlikely witness to potential turf war or deeper foul play. A breakthrough in Beaumont’s case leads him to the Southwest, thrusting him into Brady’s jurisdiction and rekindling an old partnership that once ended with unspoken tension. Together, they must navigate the intertwining clues of two seemingly independent investigations, uncovering hidden motives and confronting a violent cross‑border conspiracy that threatens both their lives and careers.
