Kendra Michaels survives an experimental surgery that restores her vision, but in return she gains extraordinary sensory abilities—she can identify a Nissan by the hum of its engine, a razor by the stubble it leaves, and even a colorless fire accelerant by its scent. These remarkable gifts attract law‑enforcement agencies and make her a valuable consultant in music therapy. When a traffic collision on San Diego’s historic Cabrillo Bridge reveals a homicide, Kendra is the only one who can piece the clues together. As the body count rises, she discovers a killer who murders in patterns that echo her most traumatic cases, using the name of a famous 20th‑century art forger as a twisted homage. The hunt forces Kendra to confront her greatest fears and face an enemy who operates in the shadows—someone she may already know and who blurs the line between genius and monster.
