Books like I remember you by Harriet Evans

Tess Tennant decides to leave the bustle of the city for the quiet charm of her childhood home, Langford, hoping a teaching job will bring clarity and renewal. The town’s picturesque stone cottages and oak‑beamed pubs provide the comforting backdrop for her return. However, the familiar presence of her long‑time friend and romantic interest, Adam, complicates her plans as he is now involved with someone new. When Tess’s class travels to Rome, she encounters a mysterious stranger who sparks a passionate affair, offering the sense of adventure she craves. Yet the romance soon turns unsettling, challenging Tess to confront her insecurities. Back home, Adam’s departure and the shifting dynamics of Langford push her to decide where she truly belongs and with whom she will build her future. Tess’s journey explores the tension between past and present, the desire for new beginnings, and the complexities of love that can both heal and wound.
