Books like Devil-devil by Graeme Kent

In the Solomon Islands, Sergeant Ben Kella balances duty on the island and his role as a hereditary spiritual peacekeeper of the Lau people. When he is cursed by a magic man, stumbles upon evidence of a cargo cult uprising, and fails to locate an American anthropologist searching for a prized relic, Kella's path crosses with Sister Conchita—an independent young American nun at a mission station who is secretly burying a skeleton. Together, the unlikely pair must navigate distrust from both indigenous locals and British colonial authorities to investigate a series of murders that interlink these seemingly separate, strange events. The story weaves themes of colonial tension, spiritual tradition, and investigative mystery against the backdrop of the Pacific, offering an engaging police procedural with cultural depth.
