Books like The green millennium by Fritz Leiber

Fritz Leiber's Hugo and Nebula award-winning science fiction grandmaster, who is also a master of the American science fiction genre, introduces the reader to the futuristic human society of the 22nd century. Phil Gish, the regimented, regulated, and bureaucratized lifestyle he leads, makes him feel disenchanted and emotionally detached from others. One day, a pure green cat named Lucky appears in his room, making him feel happier and more alive than he has ever felt. Phil decides to call the cat Lucky, hoping that his life will take a turn for the better. If you consider different as change for the better, then Gish really has something in Lucky—a cat that everyone else wants, including the Mob, the FBI, some nude aliens, and a gorgeous mystery woman. When Lucky seems to vanish into thin air, Phil will do anything to get him back, even if it means challenging the very powers that rule his world. The novel is a perfect blend of mystery, science fiction, and fantasy.
