Books like Belisarius I by Eric Flint

In a future when the Malwa Empire of northern India has conquered historical India and wields other‑worldly power, the last bulwark against world‑wide tyranny is Rome in the East, Byzantium. At the heart of the Malwa’s darkness lies a crystalline artifact with prescient vision. Belisarius, the finest general ever, leads a band of sworn comrades to penetrate the Malwa heartland, battling the empire’s new weapons and treachery while guided by visions of a possible future. The clash of forces, the struggle between good and evil, and the fate of the world hinge upon Belisarius’s leadership. The novel explores themes of destiny, power, and moral conflict within a speculative historical‑fantasy setting, blending military strategy with supernatural intrigue. Belisarius’s journey—from battlefield tactics to confronting an empire that threatens to engulf all of Earth—offers a high‑stakes confrontation between human courage and an existential threat.
