Books like Charming by Elliott James

In the first novel of the Pax Arcana series, *Charming* follows John Charming, a knight trained as a monster hunter and bound by a geas to safeguard the Pax Arcana—a protective spell walled between humanity and the magical realm. The spell was enacted by the Fae after they left Earth, yet it creates a double frontier: humanity is shielded from magic, and magic is shielded from humanity. John, a werewolf, is an outcast to both sides— the monster‑hunting Knights seek his death because he is a werewolf, while his own kind fears his conflicted allegiance. After the loss of his wife to a deadly trap engineered by the Knights, John retreats from society, believing solitude is the only way to keep others safe. As fate intervenes, he encounters the Valkyrie Sig and assembles a team to confront the looming threats that blur the lines between worlds.
