Books like A choice of evils by Elizabeth Ferrars
In the final book of the Andrew Basnett series, retired botanist and teacher Andrew Basnett has a simple pause from his routine: a holiday in the sleepy coastal town of Gallmouth, England. His plans are disrupted when he unexpectedly meets his nephew, Peter Dilly, and is made a guest at the home of successful novelist Simon Amory. What begins as a pleasant dinner quickly turns sinister when Amory’s sister‑in‑law is discovered shot at her summer house. Peter Dilly, the last person to see her alive, becomes a prime suspect, but Basnett, drawing on his quiet observation skills, suspects there is more to the case. The plot thickens when another acquaintance of the novelist is also found dead, with Basnett’s methodical approach hinted at being the key to uncovering the truth.
