Books like A Week from Sunday by Dorothy Garlock

Following her father's death, Adrianna Moore discovers that his entire estate has been bequeathed to his lawyer, a distant and dubious man. To reclaim her inheritance, the lawyer demands that she marry him within a week. Adrianna flees, driving to a new life in Louisiana. While crossing the state, she is caught in a violent rainstorm and is struck by a truck driven by Quinn Baxter. Quinn, the owner of a tavern, insists on repayment for the damage caused to his cargo. In a tense bargaining, Quinn offers Adrianna a place to stay in his home, a job tutoring his bedridden younger brother, and the chance to play piano at his tavern in exchange for settling the debt. Adrianna is drawn to Quinn’s rugged charm and must navigate the complex dynamics of the tavern’s patrons, while confronting Quinn’s scheming housekeeper who plots to become his wife. Her peace is further disrupted as the frustrated lawyer relentlessly follows her, intent on forcing the marriage he demands. The story intertwines romance, suspense, and the challenges of rebuilding a life after tragedy.
