Books like The expediter by David Hagberg

After years on a perilous assignment in Mexico City, Kirk McGarvey returns to the University of South Florida only to find himself embroiled in an international thriller. An important Chinese intelligence general is murdered in plain view of a surveillance camera during a secret meeting with Kim Jon‑Il in Pyongyang. The assassins wear North Korean police uniforms, sparking a diplomatic crisis as Kim Jong‑Il denies involvement while the Chinese suspect a far‑reaching plot. McGarvey is summoned by a North Korean intelligence colonel who demands proof that the regime did not authorize the hit. Parallel to this, a mysterious Russian ex‑KGB multimillionaire offers to “expedite” assassin services, setting the stage for a global conspiracy in which nuclear weapons could be unleashed on Beijing, Seoul, and Tokyo. McGarvey must navigate a dangerous, ambiguous world where nothing is as it seems and the stakes are nothing short of world war.
