Books like Risen by Benedict Jacka

Decades after the war between wizards and djinn, the latter linger in the world as enchanted artifacts such as lamps and rings, forever plotting revenge. A djinn prince now claims a powerful wizardess, forcing the divided realms of black and white magic to reluctantly ally. Seer Alex Verus, who sees a doomed pact and his own perilous future, must decide whether to fight the djinn and the wizardess or intervene to save his beloved companion, Anne, caught in a deadly conspiracy. The stakes rise as each character pursues personal goals: the wizardesses’ companions, the djinns’ influence, and Alex’s own destiny. With magic, intrigue, and personal loyalties intertwined, Alex must navigate a treacherous path where destroying the djinn could obliterate the wizardess he loves, while preserving her might doom everyone else.
