Books like Whispers Underground by Ben Aaronovitch
Peter Grant is apprenticing as a wizard while working in a covert police division that blurs the lines between routine law enforcement and paranormal investigation. After clashes with the deadly supernatural children of the Thames and a killer in Soho, he faces additional challenges as he climbs the ranks of a department that many dismiss as myth. The plot thickens when sinister events erupt in the ancient labyrinth of London’s underground tunnels, disrupting the Northern Line and threatening the city’s stability. To stop the darkness, Grant consults the Metropolitan Police’s Economic and Specialist Crime Unit 9, known as 'The Folly', and brings his unique blend of magic and investigative skill to the front line.
