Books like Taking care of Moses by Barbara O'Connor

When dissension erupts in the town of Foley, South Carolina, after a baby is left on the steps of the Rock of Ages Baptist Church, eleven-year-old Randall must decide whether or not to keep secret his knowledge of who the foundling's mother is. Randall lives with his aunt, uncle, and two aunts, but he is the only child of his mother. He has no knowledge of her, and when the baby is found, he is distraught because he is the only child that doesn't know his mother's name. He confides the secret to his friend, Randy, who is a little older and more experienced. Randy, who is an orphan, says that he doesn't know the mother's name, but he believes that Randall's aunt, Mrs. R., is the mother. Mrs. R., however, insists that her child is Randall's mother. They discuss the issue with the local parish, but Randall, after some time, decides that he must keep the secret of his mother's identity, and he does so for the rest of his life.
