Books like Shades of Grace by Barbara Delinsky

Grace Dorian, beloved national columnist and self‑proclaimed ‘Confidante,’ is suddenly besieged by the early signs of Alzheimer’s. Her once razor‑sharp mind falters, her columns slip, and the future of her illustrious career hangs in the balance. With Grace’s health hidden from the public and her 60‑plus‑year‑old empire at stake, her daughter Francine is compelled to assume her mother’s role, write the columns, handle fan mail, and steer the business. Francine must also contend with her own life challenges—long divorce, a potential romance with Grace’s sympathetic doctor, and the responsibility of caring for her 23‑year‑old daughter Sophie. Amid familial loyalty and personal reinvention, Francine confronts the painful reality of her mother’s decline and struggles to preserve the dignity of both her family and her career. The novel weaves love, family dynamics, and the courageous realities of illness into a moving contemporary tale of devotion and resilience.
