Books like Time’s Eye by Arthur C. Clarke

Time’s Eye thrusts Earth into a fractured tapestry of epochs, from the prehistoric deep to the year 2037. The planet is split by invisible silver orbs that both witness and shape history. Two disparate groups—a mix of cosmonauts returning from the International Space Station and United Nations peacekeepers from Afghanistan—find themselves stranded in this temporal jumble. They seek answers in the ancient city of Babylon, where the mysterious orbs seem to hold the secret to time itself. As 19th‑century British soldiers and the armies of Alexander the Great ally with the refugees, alliances form and rivalries ignite. Their goal: to uncover the power contained within Babylon before the Firstborn—ancient, almost‑cosmic observers—can reach a deeper understanding of humanity. Clarke and Baxter weave a story that fuses scientific speculation, historical intrigue, and speculative time‑travel.
