Alexandra Clifford stands as a testament to independence, famously declaring that love is a "trap for the unwary" and that "never again" will be her motto. When the chance encounter with Laurier Tait, a visitor to Vancouver, reopens her heart, she is forced to confront the tension between her self‑sufficient lifestyle and the prospect of a lasting partnership. Laurier, however, sees no fleeting autumn affair; he seeks a full‑time companion and believes true connection requires sacrifice. Their conflicting priorities create both tension and attraction, turning Alexandra’s guarded stance into a thrilling emotional journey. As they navigate the complexities of love, career, and financial autonomy, both characters must decide whether their ideals can coexist—ultimately revealing that true companionship may lie just beyond their firmly held convictions.
