Books like Callander Square by Anne Perry

When two dead infants are discovered in the Callander Square gardens, Inspector Thomas Pitt refuses to let the case be dismissed as the desperate act of a low-born girl. The upper‑class residents resented his intrusion, but Pitt’s determination leads him to investigate the burials in depth. His well‑born wife, Charlotte, not satisfied with the official police work, joins the inquiry by exploring the private rooms of the fashionable square’s mansions. With her sister, Lady Emily Ashworth, Charlotte delves into the lives and secrets of Callander Square’s residents. As Thomas and Charlotte prepare for their first child, the two form a formidable sleuthing partnership. Elegant closets soon spill their skeletons, revealing long‑hidden secrets that could drive even the most upright aristocrat to murder. Will their combined investigative skills and insights into high‑class society solve the mystery before the murderer claims another victim?
