Books like Etched in bone by Anne Bishop

Anne Bishop’s novel places readers back in the Other world, where humans survive in scattered enclaves under the watch of powerful shapeshifters and vampires. Following a brutal uprising, the few remaining cities cling to life while the shadowed no‑man’s‑land outside threatens constant danger. In this tense landscape, Lakeside Courtyard, a comparatively safe community, is led by wolf shifter Simon Wolfgard and the blood prophet Meg Corbyn. Their uneasy partnership with the human pack seeks to maintain peace, but new threats emerge when Lieutenant Montgomery’s brother arrives, eager for easy prey. The fragile alliance faces renewed suspicion, drawing the attention of the Elders, who observe the impact of this seemingly minor predator on the pack. Through shifting loyalties and prophetic insight, Meg foresees a grim future that may culminate in her own standing beside a grave, underscoring the precarious balance between survival and destiny in a world where every choice carries weight.
