Books like High Island blues by Ann Cleeves

This is the eighth and final mystery featuring George and Molly Palmer-Jones, a couple of private investigators from England who find themselves on High Island, Texas. The book combines elements of bird watching, private detective, and mystery. The plot revolves around the murder of Rob, the introverted English friend, who was the only survivor of the group's first unforgettable trip to the island. The police tag Rob for the crime, but George focuses his attention on some odd ducks among the English contingent. Meanwhile, back home in England, George's wife, Molly, digs up the dirt on a save-the-earth society. And on High Island, a killer finds that one murder is not enough. George and Molly's investigation takes them to the heart of the crime and into the hearts of the characters they meet. This is a gripping tale of crime, mystery, and the unlikely bond between two unlikely friends.
