Books like My war by Andrew A. Rooney

Andrew A. Rooney began World War II as a typical 1939 college sophomore at Colgate, later completing basic training in North Carolina and serving in the 17th Field Artillery Regiment. His wartime experiences took him from England to the Normandy invasion, and ultimately to the battlefields of Europe, the discovery of concentration camps, and operations in the Far East. Transformed by the conflict, Rooney joined The Stars and Stripes as a war correspondent. Working alongside seasoned journalists such as Ernie Pyle, Homer Bigart, and Walter Cronkite, he learned the craft of frontline reporting while delivering vital news to soldiers abroad. "My War" records his unique perspective as a young American soldier turned correspondent, offering an intimate look at the brutality and heroism of World War II through his evolving journalistic voice.
