Books like Kingdoms of light by Alan Dean Foster

The once‑pristine Gowdlands kingdom is in ruins, conquered by the Totumakk Horde and the diabolic Khaxan Mundurucu, a clan of goblin‑warlocks that wield dark necromancies. Their violence kills the kingdom’s greatest wizard and imposes a hex upon the land. In his final act, the wizard’s ashes conceal a spell that transforms his loyal companions—cats Cezer, Cocoa, and Mamakitty; a dog, Oskar; a songbird, Taj; and a massive boa, Samm—into humanoid champions. Armed with animal instincts, human form, and unique magical gifts, these six heroes must flee Mundurucu assassins, traverse the rainbow’s reach, and seek the pure White Light capable of shattering the goblin hex. Their journey leads through bizarre realms and dangerous landscapes within the chromatic Kingdoms of Light, culminating in a revelation about the true nature of the powerful magic that could either save or destroy their world.
