S. L. MacGregor Mathers (February 8, 1854 – November 5, 1918) was a British scholar and occultist born in London, England. He was a prominent figure in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for his deep interest in Western esoteric traditions and mystical studies. Mathers played a significant role in the development of modern Western occultism and was affiliated with the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a renowned society dedicated to magical and mystical traditions.
