Klemens von Metternich (May 15, 1773 β June 11, 1859) was an Austrian diplomat and statesman born in Koblenz, Germany. Widely regarded as a leading figure in European politics during the early 19th century, he played a pivotal role in shaping the post-Napoleonic European order. As Austriaβs Foreign Minister and later Chancellor, Metternich was known for his conservative policies and his efforts to maintain stability and balance of power across Europe through diplomacy and alliances.
